I knew I wanted to start a blog back in 2014 during my senior year of college, but it didn’t feel like the “right time.” Once I graduated and was thrown into a long-distance relationship and first-time job search, I set a goal that the blog would become a reality when I turned 27. Through rose-colored glasses, 27 seemed like the age when everything would finally fall into place and I’d have “real“ stuff to write about. Looking back, I can't help but laugh but I also don’t regret pushing things off because in some ways I was right. While I definitely still don’t have my life together, I have learned so much about myself, adulthood, and the real world in the last several years that has finally instilled in me the confidence and motivation to get started. For what it’s worth, I don’t turn 27 until August so I’m actually ahead of schedule. ☺
What inspired A Brown-Eyed Berry? My childhood nickname given to me by my parents was Eri Berry, or just Berry for short. As I seek out ways to grow into my potential with each new phase of life, I am guided by a belief that our past continues to shape and define us. This nickname reminds me of who I used to be, and still am. I’ve chosen it to represent my first blog name for this reason.
I can’t wait to dive in to learning more about the blogging world, and share content that focuses on celebrating life, feeling empowered, and being the best version of yourself.
